What Can Registered Massage Therapy Help Me With?
- Improve sleep – It is crucial that we have a healthy, restful night's sleep because it is when your body repairs and restores. During your session, your RMT will create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs, recommending at-home care to help you get better sleep. Plus, regular massage therapy appointments have been shown to reduce feelings of pain, depression, anxiety, and sleep disturbance. Essential for health, consistent and deep sleep can significantly improve your life, and why not start with an amazing massage by a registered massage therapist?
- Reduce stress & anxiety – We all experience stress in our daily lives, and it's crucial to deal with it before it causes health problems like poor sleep, headaches, and muscle tightness. In some situations, RMTs can reduce stress levels after just one session. The key to a healthy lifestyle is to increase relaxation and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. Since an increased level of stress hormones is correlated with long-term health impacts such as hypertension, heart attack, and stroke, it's essential to care for your nervous system and reduce the emotional and physical toll stress has on your body.
- Increase joint mobility and flexibility – Working with an RMT can help you have healthier joints and more flexibility when engaging in home care exercises that incorporate strengthening and stretching. Each client is given exercises to practise outside of clinic hours to help them learn how to live life actively. To improve mobility, RMTs can relieve tension and enhance general muscle and joint function by focusing on specific muscle groups. Not only does this preserve your long-term health, but it also improves your day-to-day functioning, allowing you to live a full life without restriction.
- Improve posture – Enhancing posture can alleviate much of our daily muscle tension and discomfort. Awareness of body mechanics is vital, especially during everyday activities. Collaborating with an RMT, you can learn how to improve your posture by understanding which muscles require stretching, strengthening, and relaxing. This is particularly crucial if your lifestyle involves prolonged periods of sitting, such as desk jobs. Learn easy stretches and exercises that you can do at your desk to optimize your posture and movements to improve mobility.
- Increase blood circulation – Improved blood circulation is essential for reducing recovery time when suffering from an injury. With better blood flow, your body can experience a boost of oxygen and nutrient delivery to muscles, enhancing repair and expediting the elimination of metabolic wastes. Overall, enhanced circulation improves muscle strength, accelerates healing processes, and supports other vital functions for a strong, injury-resistant physique. Regular massage therapy, whether deep tissue or Thai massage, can promote better blood flow, setting the foundation for a healthy future.
- Improve fitness – Elevating your fitness level empowers you to live a healthier lifestyle and accomplish personal milestones. Your body is your lifelong companion. Therefore, being more active and engaging in improved body care can yield positive, long-term effects. By reaching and potentially surpassing fitness goals, you can improve your bodily functions, securing a healthier future. Registered massage therapists play a crucial role in initiating and maintaining exercise routines that keep you fit, agile, and less prone to injuries. Create the life of your dreams, one massage at a time.
- Pain management – A person's quality of life can be severely impacted by chronic pain, making recovery from injuries all the more challenging. But you don't have to struggle alone. By working with an RMT, you can get your pain under control and learn methods to reduce and manage your pain levels. Pain is highly individualistic, necessitating tailored treatment strategies from RMTs to achieve effective relief. Tailored massage therapy helps you navigate a life unburdened by pain, enabling you to engage fully in the lifestyle you deserve.

What is an RMT?
Vancouver RMT's are hands-on manual therapists. Research shows massage therapy is an effective optimizer of the body's ability to heal and repair itself. RMT helps with stress reduction and/or pain relief. A Registered Massage Therapist has a solid understanding of the body's capabilities and limitations. RMT proficiencies include a variety of corrective techniques designed to deal with clinical symptoms, including myofascial release, trigger point release, joint mobilization, and neuromuscular therapy. In a session with a Vancouver RMT, clients can expect an assessment, treatment plan, and home care for rehabilitation maintenance between treatments.
A Registered Massage Therapist is required to successfully complete at least 2 years (2400 hours) at recognized school and a member of a regulatory college (CMTBC). Vancouver RMT's are trained and complete a competency-based education recognized by the province of British Columbia. RMT's are governed by the CMTBC to uphold the highest standards under the health professions act to deliver safe and ethical treatment.
