Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) was developed in ancient China thousands of years ago. With a very different viewpoint towards medicine that their western counterparts. TCM practitioners have evolved and honed their skills to treat a variety of symptoms and conditions that can be applied to everyday life. Using many different approaches such as Tui Na massage, Acupuncture, and Cupping Katia looks forward to any challenge.

Assessment

  • As each person is unique, so is their treatment. Through observation and by asking detailed questions about your health concerns Katia looks for patterns that may highlight imbalances, which in Traditional Chinese Medicine are indications of body systems not working optimally. Katia’s individualized treatments focus on the root of the imbalance which naturally correct the symptoms, and more importantly – the issues that cause those symptoms to appear. The initial appointment combines the consultation and treatment components, which can include Acupuncture, Cupping, Massage and other techniques that are most effective for you

Follow-up

  • As a follow-up to your Initial Consultation, Katia adheres to an effective plan for optimizing your health. She looks for changes in patterns through careful observation and by soliciting feedback about your progress. With a focus on the root of the imbalance, she will continue to refine treatments as you improve with the age-old techniques of Traditional Chinese Medicine..

Tui Na Massage Therapy

  • Using TCM principles of examining the vertebrae, joints and muscles, Katia applies advanced classical techniques to relieve pain and to repair your natural range of motion, trigger points, and circulation. Her restorative methods treat many clinical disorders effectively, and especially so for traumatic injuries. The techniques used in Tui Na Massage are aimed to treat both acute and chronic conditions. The name is formed from the two actions: Tui “to push” and Na “to lift and squeeze”.

Cupping Therapy

  • As seen with Olympic Gold Medalist Michael Phelps, Cupping is a form of intensely focused acupressure. It is used to recover after an illness and as prevention for stress, tension and even insomnia and headaches. Through TCM inquiry, observation and diagnosis, Katia provides relief for many disorders, from muscular to respiratory, by applying various cupping methods with mild suction to promote tissue and organ health.
